South Africa, $12, purchased in April 05. I was very hopeful and ended up very disappointed. I thought this wine had practically no nose, even after an hour and with heavy swirling. It's a mix of syrah and pinotage, and I was hoping for that smoky pinotage palate, but it was not there either. Very bland all around. I know it's still very young, but I have been much happier with other 2003 reds - and this one is even slightly older than most, being from the southern hemisphere. Bad bottle? bad timing? Any other experiences that would make me give it another try?

From the mixed reviews I've seen, and ours with a limited experience have been positive, I think there is a lot of bottle or even lot variation.

Thanks - sounds like I will stop at one bottle of this one then, gambling and wine don't mix well with me.

I picked up a bottle of the 2004 Goats du Roam in Villages and popped the other night. Very uninteresting wine for $12 with very little flavor.
