I was in New Zealand a couple of years ago and toured the wineries in the Nelson area (top of the South Island, close to the Marlborough District) and came across this stunning Gewurtraminer from Kahurangi Estate. Being such a beautiful wine, I bought a couple of bottles, gave one to my brother in law, which we promptly drank and I bought the other back to Australia. I still have it don't want to open it, because I only have one, a 1999. May I suggest you either email the winery, at winery@kahurangiestate.com or have a look at their website www.kahurangiwine.com
The notes on the back of the bottle read a wonderfully fragrant nose with highlights of passionfruit, peaches and lemon. The palate is soft and full, showing spicy characters with a honeyed finish.
If I can find another Gewurztraminer, here somewhere in our wine regions in Victoria, I will certainly let you know.
