- Bucko - 12-17-2006 I tried this and immediately ordered two cases: 2006 Saint Clair, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand, $15. This stunner grabs you from the very start with its intense gooseberry and passionfruit aromas. Crisp in the mouth, the flavors are every bit as intense – passionfruit, limes and grapefruit flavors abound. New Zealand has raised the bar on Sauvignon Blanc with this one. Buy by the case; 93/94. - VouvrayHead - 12-17-2006 I've had very few $15-$20 NZ S.B.'s that didn't knock my socks off. Is there any other region that consistently excellent at a varietal at an affordable price? 3 of my faves: Nobilo Icon Kim Crawford Wairau River I'll look for this one, thanks! - winoweenie - 12-17-2006 Are those RED gooseberries? WW - Bucko - 12-17-2006 I've got a red goose for you. Now cough for me.... - newsguy - 01-06-2007 bucko: after you get done your, ahem, exam of WW, please answer a question: is this one of those NZ SBs that has that, shall we say, litter box aroma? no matter how good the fruit is that follows, i can't enjoy it if it smells like cat p--. - Bucko - 01-06-2007 Loaded with grapefruit. - newsguy - 01-10-2007 Thank you, good doctor.
