1999 Perrini Estate, Meadows, Cabernet Sauvaigon, McLaren Vale ($8.99 SHWC). One of the few cabs I've ever found under $10 with true varietal character. Heaps of fruit including powerful cassis (a.k.a. black current) on the nose and upfront. Mother took one whiff, and with no prompting said, "Cab." Decent complexity, restrained oak, and smooth tannin crossed the palate. Very pleasant finish.

Matched with a red wine marinated, patted dry, covered with OO and Morton Rub boneless Black Angus sirloin grillpanned, baguette dipped in EVOO, and salad with blue cheese dressing. Wonderful.
