Spent the weekend at Ocean City with some friends and popped this beauty. Black opaque ruby with garnet edges with "fingers" showing color. Very plush and ripe with flavors of blackberry and sweet oak with a very long finish. A definate WW "4 lapper", hit of the night and one of the best Oz Shiraz wines I've had this year...can't wait to pop the 98'! 14.2% Alc./vol. $21

Drew,

I am ruby red with envy!

Opened my last bottle of this wonderful wine last night. It just keeps getting better. Still not near the top of it's game. Lush, sweet blackberry with layers of chocolate cordial, spice and cinnamon. Full bodied with an oily mouthfeel and long finish with ample fine grained tannins. One of the Wines of the Night.

Started buying this in the '96 vintage (still the best in my book) and it mever fails to please. Try the petit verdot as well.

Actually found another hiding here at the beach so we thought we'd do a Pirramimma vertical of the '97 and '98 (If you can call that a vertical ). I think the '97 is my favorite year between the two. Showed more elegance and finesse and a better layering of the different flavors. Also clearly a better food pairing wine, imho. Both, though, are very similar in flavor/mouth feel profiles with the '98 showing some port like hints of flavor that the '97 was lacking. Both lovely bottles.
