- Bob Manning - 02-23-2001 Is itr O.K. to serve a good Port wine with a blueberry breadpudding? If not, what would you recommend? Plwease do not respond after Fat Tuesday (Feb 27, 2001) Thank You. - mrdutton - 02-23-2001 Port wine and chocolate are a match made in heaven. So, too, are strawberries and Champagne. Port and blueberry? I am not so sure about that. I think that the port might be a bit too much for the fruit. And that the fruit might be a bit too much for the port. Try a sweet Loire wine (Bonnezeaux or Quarts de Chaume) or sweet (Beerenauslese level) Riesling from Germany or Austria or Canada. Port and chocolate are a geat match. Port and roasted walnuts are also a fine match; almost made in heaven. Some of this information comes from my personal experience, other parts come from reference materials in my library (Wine with Food by Joanna Simon). |
