You may realise by now that I have no ability to hold onto wines. (Patience is a virtue, but I don't have it when it comes to self-indulging in vino.)

Luckily for me, the NZ winemakers Center was holding an aged wine tasting last month... And so I ended up with this pre-aged beauty. (From a year BEFORE I first got "into" wine!)

Deep golden hues and a nose you could pick as a chardonnay with your eyes closed. It's mellowed into an incredibly smooth, mouth-filling drop, velvety and rich. Probably wouldn't have lasted much longer, but then again, it didn't have to. Just enough left for a glass tonight and another tommorow, by the looks of it. (Although I'll be thinking good thoughts about it long after its gone, I'd imagine.)

I got in trouble from the wife after buying this, (NZ$33, and our budget was pretty tight that week.) but as there was just THREE cases left in total, I had to do it. (They sold out at the WMC before the month was out, so I feel justified.)

Skeeters' Tasting Notes say: Seven years isn't THAT long... Maybe I could try this 'cellaring" thing.

Nahhh...
