2001 Ross Estate, Barossa Valley, Riesling ($11 SHWC). This was the second of five rieslings from Oz that we a trying after a flurry of press on them. This one was a winner with both of us. Pale straw color with a green hue. Lemonlike or more precisely lemongrass on the nose and upfront. The complexity on the palate included citrus, apple, crisp but soft acidity, and bone dryness that typifies this genre. All followed by a lively finish. Matched wonderfully with our sauteed haddock in cream sauce with spinach.
