- wondersofwine - 04-08-2008 Padthaway, South Australia Fruit exclusively from Longbottom Family Vineyards. Winemakers Sarah and Sparky Marquis. Imported by Grateful Palate. I had three bottles of this on hand and wanted to see if it was still drinking well before giving bottles as gifts to a relative and a friend on my visit to Annapolis, MD area. 14.5% alcohol; viscous Deep, dark purple; opaque. Nose of dark fruits including purple grapes. On the palate, singing with ripe dark fruit with enough structure to avoid jamminess in my book. However, still a bit fruity for pairing with steak. Maybe with lamb or just by itself. I would say it hasn't lost anything in the last couple years and may have improved slightly. I don't see any reason to hold onto it although the label indicates that with proper cellaring it will develop and improve for many years. One of my better Grateful Palate purchases. - TheEngineer - 04-09-2008 WoW, you might need to try the other two just to make sure before you give any to friends - wondersofwine - 04-10-2008 Too late, engineer. |
