1999 Leeuwin Estate, Artist Series, Margaret River, Riesling ($20 SHWC). Decided to put a little age on this one after it came in a shipment a few years ago. Very well worth the wait. May not have been fully aged out, but fantastic as it stood. Gave nuts, muted petro, and citrus on the nose and upfront. It had morphed into a lovely complex melange of flavors across the palate, and the finish lingered much longer than your everyday SW.

Matched it with broiled diver's scallops, and salad in blue cheese dressing. Just about perfect. The wine and shellfish were created for each other.

My first introduction into wine years ago was Riesling and I was very good at reading labels and knowing the wines. I have gotten stuck with this red only thing and I think I'm gonna re-explore riesling. You got my mouth watering with the scallop/riesling match.

Give it a shot Drew. Incidentally this one weighed in at 13% alcohol. It was not noticed among all the positive attributes. Alky level is one big difference between most New World and most Old World Rieslings.
