Picked up a bottle of this new shipment today. Pure garnet with a smidge of purple. A clean nose of blackberry and blueberry. Like flavors in a lush format highlighting the dark side of the berries where I think the 2001 leaned a little more towards the brite side. Smooth tannins and a very nice wine with a linguring finish. 14.5% Alc/vol. $11 and probably can find it cheaper. A nice quaff.

2003 Woop-Woop Shiraz ($9.99 The Clown, Belfast). Sounds like they make a very consistent wine according to Crocodile Drewski. Seems to getting a little more potent as it now weighs in at 14.5%. Great fruit and spice on the nose and upfront. Plenty of out-back dirt and other complexity on the palate, and a great finish. Neither oak nor alky a problem.
Matched it with leftover duck and wild rice from New Years. True love had a half of chicken breast I sauteed for her with Orange Sauce, and I had an aft quarter of duck. All went very well together. Thanks Drew.
P.S. The reason for the Shiraz was the Orange Sauce!

I had one about a month ago (2003) and got it at the sub $10 section ($9.99).
I thought is was a worthwhile bottle. Similar TN as yours but perhaps Tannins were just a tad bit less smooth in the 2003 (or not yet had time to soften).
I like the photo on the label!

Popped one last night and was very good for $9.35. Had some subtle hints of tar that I like in Oz wines.

Had some left over so I thought I revisit tonight. The wine had improved greatly. It became more rich and round in the mouth, a depth that wasn't seen yesterday. Also there are plenty of fine grained tannins that kick in at the beginning of the finish which leads me to believe that the wine is a good short term ager. Methinks this is their best vintage so far.
