Tried this the other night and enjoyed it... Didn't taste the licorice that everyone is talking about in it though... I suppose my palate isn't experienced (or sensitive)enough yet to pick up on it. I assume that will come in time.

It may also be the stage of the wine -- flavors fade in and fade out with time.

Duane, what did you think of it?

What did I think?... I've never given an analysis before... I hesitate making a fool out of myself :-)
I enjoyed it. It was more of an experiment than anything else. I didn't go into the bottle with any expectations. I'm just trying to figure out what I like. The Sirah was peppery... nice... but I think my fancy lies in something a little more fruity. I noticed that I enjoyed the second glass a little more. It didn't seem quite as powerful. Maybe it needed to breathe, or maybe the alcohol was starting to take it's effect on me :-) At any rate, I'm glad I tried it. I think next I'll try a Cabernet.

For fruit try a California or Washington Syrah. Completely different grape than the petite sirah.
