A few nights ago at a liquor store I decided to take the recommendation of a wine clerk and buy a bottle of this. I can't seem to find much info about it on the 'net. Any comments about it? The clerk said he didn't detect any pepper when he tried it; he said it's more of a leather-and-earth kind of drink. True? (I thought pepper was a signature feature of shiraz and syrah, but maybe not the down-under version.....?)

I havn't seen it but here's what Parker sez about it:

"The silky, soft, fruit-filled 2001 Shiraz reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as a classic peppery, earthy, blackberry, leather, and meaty-scented bouquet. drink this hedonistic Shiraz over the next 2-3 years. Importer: Peter Click, Click Imports, Seattle, WA; tel. (800) 859-0689" Wine Advocate. $15/88 points.

Pop it and see if you have a Parker palate.

I've had it and found it satisfactory, though perhaps not deserving the superlatives (hedonistic? whoa!) that Bobby gave it.
