2000 Bleasdale, Langhorn Creek, Mulberry Tree, Cabernet Sauvignon ($14.99 SHWC). In their "Great Cabernets Affordable Prices" edition, WS rated this wine (88) as the best Australian Cabernet for $15 or less. So I got some. It is very nice right now with berries and mint on the nose and upfront. Lovely complexity, chewy tannin, and nice exposure to oak manifested across the palate. Very pleasant finish. Matched nicely with grillpanned rib eye steak, baked yam, and salad. Very nice balance, indicating that it will continue to improve over the next few years.

Popped a second bottle last night. Since Mother was in the hospital when I did the first one, this was her first taste. She loved it. Decanted and let it breathe for an hour while I trimmed, wrapped, and broiled the fillet steaks, and tossed the salad. A match made in heaven. Get it while still available.

Hope your mother is feeling better, IK. My lone remaining grandparent has been in and out of the hospital the last couple of weeks.

Actually it's a closer relative Joe. Mother is a familia name for one's wife here in Maine. She is feeling much better. Thanks.

Ah, I didn't know that! Well in any case, I'm glad your wife is feeling better and I hope all of your family members are in good health!

She thanks you for your sentiments.

Give her my best and give her ANY wine that patient, forgiving Saintess wants. Happy WW

Bev is a little better now. Will keep you posted. Tonight we had another bottle of the Bleasdale with sliced grillpanded boneless sirloin steak, thinly sliced baguette dipped in Tenuta Del Numerouno, Extra Virgin Cold Pressed Olive Oil, and salad. Very, very nice.

Pretty much the same thing last night. We broiled the last of our Omaha Steak sirloins and covered them with sauteed shitake mushrooms seasoned with salt, pepper, granulated onion and garlic, fine herbs, Worchestershire and a splash of Port. Working on a new bottle of the Tenuta Del Numerouno OO. Excellent with baguette. The cabernet is getting better and better.
