This is Sarah and Sparky Marquis (Fox Creek and Marquis Phillips fame) new venture. So you want ridiculous? You got it with this wine. It's the biggest, fattest, concentrated shiraz I've ever had! Huge blackberry and blueberry flavors with a smack of chocolate. Oily in the mouth. Our friend Ann could not get over the chocolate note in this wine. The legs on the glass were numerous and thick. So what do you eat with this monster? Chocolate iced brownies. It was a perfect match. Pure hedonisim. Other than a chocolate dessert I can't imagine what you would pair this with. It should be in the dessert wine isle. 16%Alc/vol. $22 but I paid $18. One cool marketing element with this wine is on the back label it has a small postage stamp with all the relevant information so restaurant consumers can remember the wine by pulling off the stamp and taking it home. FWIW, Parker gave this wine a 95.

Love this one but even more so the"Two Left Feet" and "The Maitre'D" (Cab and meritage). Sold out pretty quick.

Yea,it's kinda obtained cult status in it's debut mostly due to marketing crap. Even though it was a little fun to pair it with chocolate brownies, and most of that had to do with the moment of wife, I and friends goofing off at the Ocean, I won't buy any more. It's just too over the top for me.

Tasted the entire new line-up today. All great juice. No notes because I need to get back to work in a few hours. I'll try to get back to this one to give some more detail. Favorites were the "The Maitre'D"(Cab) and the "Enchanted Path"(Shiraz/Cab). Two outstanding wines. Even liked the EP better than the "Velvet Glove"(Thier flagship Shiraz). More Later...

my notes from trying this wine in december:

‘05 Mollydooker The Boxer Shiraz: A new bottling from an Aussie wine-making duo I love: Sparky and Sarah Marquis. Decanted nearly four hours, and this one smells just like the Marquis-Philips 9 Shiraz that I love: big aromas of sweet cream, blueberries and a touch of blackberry, plus some mocha and black pepper. Similar big flavors with a pretty fair amount of acidity, plus plenty of heat from the 16.0 percent alcohol, which is pretty overwhelming right now. No noticeable tannins. Give this two years, then drink up over the next 2 or 3. I liked this, but I prefer the M-P 9 better. 90-92 points.
