While sampling some wines at Midway yesterday, I mentioned to the owner that I noticed the above bottle displayed on his shelves and asked how it compared to the 2001. He says, "Well you tell me, you bought a case of it". When I tell him it was the 2001 I had purchased he goes to the store room and returns with a case labled 2001 Shotfire Ridge Shiraz, opens it and finds it contains the 2000 Shearwater. Well he's P---ed and sez he's been had and is going to send the wine back. So I sez, Let's try it. It was better than the 2001. Verrrry rich, dark, lush, almost over the top with deep hints of chocolate interlaced with lush berry and spice. Coarse tannins, ample acid and a long finish make for a wine that I think you could lay down for a while. Needless to say, It's not going back! Drinks like a $25+ wine. 13.9%Alc/vol. $13.99
