I am getting married later in the year and need to choose some red wines. The first course is a seafood platter, with the main course roast lamb. The wedding breakfast will be held in the middle of the afternoon, and so I do not want to choose to heavy a wine (although that is my personal preference). Any suggestions?

Innkeeper - Apologies I should have mentioned the white wine has already been chose - savignion blanc. Champagne will be served before the food

Hi Valandil, and welcome to the Wine Board. You do not mention whether there will be some wine sipping prior to the eating. Regardless you should have both red and white wine for two reasons. First, that will be the preference of some of your guests. Second, white would go with the seafood, and red would go with the lamb.

Recommend a New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc such as Villa Maria ($12 U.S.) and an Australian Shiraz such as Black Opel ($13 U.S.). If you know for an absolute fact that a number of your guests are die hard chardonnay fans, make that half of the white wine.

I was married two weeks ago at The City Bakery in NYC. food consisted of a buffet that included baked salmon, jerk chicken, roasted vegetable, macaroni and cheese, corn dogs among others. I chose the following wines:

Coppola Diamond Series Chardonnay
Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc
Renwood Sierra Series Zinfandel
Taurino Salice Salentino
Los Vascos Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve.

All good value wines in my opinion, and something to go with many combinations of palate and dish.

Thanks Innkeeper - I should have mentioned that the white wine has already been chosen - a savignion blanc as you suggested. There will bne wie sipped before the meal and this will be champagne
