All these years and my first Amarone. Served with a simple fare of assorted Italian Calabrese, Salames, Capocollo and sausage, Parmesan and Gorgonzola cheeses. Very big wine. Black/ruby, not opaque. Rich flavors of spicy fruit, raisin, earth, mineral and herb notes. Sweet, similar to a late harvest zin but with more minerality and leather/earthy components. Thick, oily mouthfeel completely coating the tongue and a finish that lasted 45+ seconds with some pronounced heat from the 15.5% Alc/vol. $50

So how did you like it? I also have never had one before but they stare at you when you walk by ignoring them again.

Sorry Drew, ...Last message was a bit cryptic message due to use of Treo cell phone to post messages....

I was wondering if you liked the Amarone and is it a type that you will go back to again.

This one was delicious and yes, as a special occasion and hopefully once a year, we'll splurge and celebrate something with one...if not only to celebrate how wonderful amarone is.
