- Kcwhippet - 08-25-2009 What an incredible wine!! This was opened last Friday at the shop and left by the distributor. I brought the bottle home and just now poured a glass, figuring I'd be dumping it right away. I mean, it's been open for 5 days and just sitting on the counter. Holy cow!!! The stuff still has some guts to it.Granted, it's faded a lot, but I'm drinking the whole glass. Look up Cascina Roera - their stuff is definitely worth a try. - hotwine - 08-26-2009 Have been looking in all the usual suspects in this area and no luck so far. Will keep looking 'cause it sounds great! - Kcwhippet - 08-26-2009 Well, keep looking. Here in MA we have the Mass Beverage Business Journal that comes out monthly to retail shops. It lists every alcoholic beverage available here and which distributor carries them. I would think they would probably have something similar in other states. If they have some such in TX, all any retailer would have to do is look in the book. Even if we don't carry a particular item a customer wants, we'll look in the book to make sure it's carried here and order it in for them. We've gained a very good reputation locally because we're one of the few stores willing to make that effort. BTW, we retail it here for $19.99, but we can't ship - sorry. - hotwine - 08-26-2009 Most of the retailers here charge a "special order fee" if they do anything other than sell stock off the shelves.... but will keep looking. Thanks. - Kcwhippet - 08-27-2009 Special order fee????? If something's already available, all they have to do is ask their wholesaler to put it in the next delivery. What a ripoff!!! - hotwine - 08-27-2009 Yeah, for too many of 'em, "rip-off" is the common theme of their business models..... which is one of the reasons I love Costco and rarely visit a plain-ol' vanilla retailer. |
