I need a bit of help. I am relatively new to the world of wine. I am having a housewarming party and I plan on serving an assortment of fine cheeses (camembert, havarti, etc), fruit and nuts. Can anyone please suggest a few wines to serve both white and red. thanks.

The cheeses and nuts usually go with red wine, and fruits could go with either red or white. You might want to throw in something like chicken tenders for the white wine drinkers. Depending on the size of the party and location you have infinite choices.

If you are in the East, you might consider going Italian. Merlots (red) and Pinot Grigios (white) are very popular right now, and can be found in all price ranges almost anywhere. Though available, would not stray too far below $10.00 per bottle.

If you are in the West, go with the same choices in local wines. The Pinot Grigio may be called that or Pinot Gris. If you are in the Midwest, go either route, that is Italian or California/NW.
