2007 Dogajolo Carpineto Tuscano ($10.19 NH Liq Store). Alcohol level: 13%. This is indeed a very good value. It is 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.

It gives a very big bang for the buck. Matched it with cheese ravioli baked with Italian tomato sauce and a variety of cheeses and seasonings.

Popped an '09 last night with pasta, tomato sauce, and sweet Italian sausages. Wonderful! This is really a nice wine, easily drinkable on release.

Had to grab something Italian to go with dinner Wednesday night, and found the 2011 version of this baby in our local state outlet for $7.49. With the price of everything else going up, the price of this very nice wine keeps going down.

Anyhow it matched very nicely with the fourth meal of our last batch of lamb shanks and pasta (two or three lamb shanks are cooked all day in a tomato sauce in a crock pot. Then take all the bones, gristle, and fat off and cut or shred remaining meat and put back into sauce. We serve two ladle fulls of sauce over a half pound of pasta for the two of us).
