1999 Dogliani & Negro, Sinfonnio, Dolcetto D’Alba ($11.99 The Clown, Belfast). Alcohol level is 12.5%. Very dark rich color meets the eye. Ripe black cherries, black pepper, and bitter almond on the nose and upfront. Medium body, juicy complexity, and smooth though quite noticeable tannin cross the palate. All followed by a brief though refreshing finish. It matched just about perfectly with penne in pesto, broiled sweet Italian sausage with fennel, and salad laced with basil in vinaigrette. What a way to spend a rainy Saturday night!

Rain? Did someone say Rain? We only mention the sun here, as in prayer...
