Close your eyes and you would think that this is a youthful and pleasant Zinfandel -- the pepper and green grass is more akin to Zin than any primitivo I have come across. There's a nice serving of chocolate and spice, with tannins to give it some extra, rounded body.

As you may know, Sicilian wines are coming on like gang-busters, many in a new world style. I would definitely pay attention to them on both a price/quality ratio and on qualit alone.

Nero d’Avola is traditionally a blending grape but is a varietal that deserves attention on its own.
