2004 Castello Montauto, Vernaccia Di San Gimignano ($11.99 Micucci's Portland). Alcohol level: 13%. Have not enjoyed a Vernaccia in a long time. Of the three Italian white V's, Vermentino and Verdicchio have been more regular around here.

This one is a winner, big time. It gave an intense fruity bouquet on the nose and flavor to the tongue tip. More fruit with honey, mineral, and earthy flavors added to the complexity across the middle, and the finish lingered nicely. Did not detect any oak which sometimes occurs in these.

Matched it with Marcella's Roast Chicken with Garlic and Rosemary, pilaf, and salad. Great Sunday dinner to start off Thanksgiving week.

Yumsville! Sounds great.

Had the second half of the bottle and second half of the chicken tonight. The wine kept nicely overnight in the fridge in the screwtop 375 filled to the brim. The warmed over chicken was accompanied by panfried slices of polenta and spinach. All very nice for a Monday night.

Thanksgiving is coming. Cornbread for stuffing made today.
