I have recently been given around 70 bottles of fine barolo wine vintages from 1969 to 1988.

how can i value my collection, before i pour it down my neck!

If your going to just pour it down your neck, I'd recommend not worrying about its value. Sounds priceless to me!

What you should be asking, is which ones are ready to open. You haven't given any information on the producers, so all I can really tell you is general vintage information. Barolo's in general from years such as 78,82,85,86,and 88 though drinkable now, will continue to improve with more years of cellaring. The other ones, unless from an excellent producer, may have already peaked or may already be on there way out. Open and pour these ones down your neck first.

If your considering selling them, then that's another story. You can try doing a price search on www.winesearcher.com, or you can try to check out some catalog prices from places that sell older wines, like Marin Wine Cellar, California. You'll most likely have to be able to prove that the wine has been properly cellared all this time if your going to drum up any interest in it.
