Hey all ...
A fairly simple wine pairing question. We're having a roasted chicken dish with mushrooms, artichokes and a sherry reduction.
Would anyone have a recommended pairing.
Much thanks!

Artichokes are tough. Andrea recommends Gruner-Veltiner and the Three Italian Vs Vernaccia, Verdicchio, and Vermentino.

Thanks for the tips IK. I got a Gruner and a Vernaccia. We had the Gruner last night with the meal. It was a disappontment in terms of the quality of the wine, but a decent pairing. It was the 2003 Lois Gruner Veltliner, Austria appelation. Pleasant apple and cantaloupe fruit, with some dry spice elements, but not much else going on. There was some residual CO2 in the bottle, which we used to have all the time at Trio when we were serving one or two of our Gruners. Wonder why that is? Anyway, we'll try the Vernaccia with the leftovers tonight.

Try a Cotes du Rhone, Goats do Roam (S. Africa) or The Stump Jump from Oz to pair with roasted chicken and mushrooms.
