Was sitting relaxing in my living room the other night when I heard a crash. I had some boxes of wine stacked up and two boxes had fallen off the stack. Two bottles broke--one from each box. One was an inexpensive 2000 Bordeaux, still available. I had one bottle of it left and have since ordered two more bottles. The other one would be harder to find and more expensive to replace--this 1999 premier cru red Burgundy. I uprighted the box and there was still about half a glass of wine in the broken bottle (it broke in such a way that no glass got into the wine), so I went ahead and poured it after cleaning up as well as I could from the broken bottles.
Clear burgundy color. Bright cherry and plum flavors. Medium body. Very enjoyable. Too bad so little was left for consumption. I didn't detect the spiciness or earthiness that some wine lovers find in this terroir--more a fruit-dominated wine.

I can REALLY empathise with you WOW dear. There's notheing more appalling than hearing the rumbling, then crash, of some beloved bottles. Had a catastrophic occurance here many years ago I posted on. Looking back at the bottles broken, I almost bawl. WW
