This Yamhill-Carlton wine was one of Anne's favorites when we tried it on our Willamette trip in '06. Despite a hint of heat on the finish, it is one of the better ones we've had from that hot Oregon year.

Dark garnet in the glass, with flashes of purple. Deep, rich nose of black cherry fruit, fruitcake, and some red spices, and the cherry and cranberry gruit flavors are delivered with velvety tannins. Nice streak of acidity down the middle, and the finish is somewhat spicy. Nice wine, and though pretty big, it doesn't come across as out of character. 14.3% alc. We paid about $50 for it here in Atlanta (didn't have room left to cart it back when we tasted in Oregon). 1400 cases produced. If you've got it, let it rest another year or two to allow the tannins to melt a bit more.
