2002 Domaine Michel Gros Bourgogne Rouge
12.5% alcohol
Looking down at the glass the color looks purple; backlit it's a pretty scarlet color.
Adequate but uninspiring wine. May be past its peak. I had this with baked chicken and also with stuffed bell peppers.

2005 Maison Champy Bourgogne Pinot Noir Signature
13% alcohol
Looks almost the same color as the Michel Gros when backlit but is not quite as dark and dense.
Smells more lively and fresher as it should as a younger wine. Has a lifted note, quite a bit of acid, and a nose and palate of muddled berries mixed with herbs. Still tasted fresh on the third evening. I liked it; didn't love it. Surprisingly robust after being open for a full week. Had it with pizza with vegetable toppings.
Web information: "Founded in 1720, Maison Champy (shom' pee) is the oldest wine house in Burgundy. In the heart of Beaune, in 15th century cellars, they mature their wines in traditional ways allowing the unique character of each terroir to express itself."
