What type of wine goes well with Indian Food?

If you do a search on this folder, you'll find about 15 enties with many suggestions for wines to go with Indian food. Some of the suggestions are a California Gewurtztraminer, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc (I've had the Dry Creek Vineyards version - very good match), Grenache, Pinot Noir and - believe it or not - White Zinfandel. Look for lower alcohol wines, too, as the alcohol will intensify the heat of the dish.

Hi LGK, and welcome to Wine Board. Agree with all the above and would add a low level Red Zinfandel.

We did a month long testing of wines about a year ago, and the winner for Indian food was rose'. We actually found a rose' produced in India.....that was a treat.
