Willamette Valley.

Anne and I visited the Carlton Winemaker's Studio with Wondersofwine while in Oregon this summer, and we all enjoyed the Scott Paul that we tasted that day, so even though this is a different bottling, I picked it up for $24 when I saw it on a local shelf, as this doesn't make it out this way that often.

Garnet color, with a nose of red plums and cherries. Flavors and texture are right for the varietal, with some red spices that add something in the middle, though this finished a touch hot on the first night, even though it's only 13.4%. Let it sit ovenight in a decanter and retasted the following night. Flavors turned more to the plum, red spices still there, and the heat on the finish died down, but this one isn't nearly as good as the one we tried in Oregon. Ran half the price tag of it, though (we didn't buy any of the stuff we tried in Oregon, as the $50 price tag was a bit steep, we felt). Enough there to keep me trying his wines, though.
