Still looking for a source to purchase this wonderful French Margaux. We enjoyed it so much in Paris recently and would love to find a source to purchase in the states. Can anyone help?

Hi Friggs and welcome to the board. I`m not the most knowledgeable on French wines so haven`t thot to answer your question as I was certain the more informed members could give you an answer. I finally decided to look up the estate and it`s not listed in either Broadbents great Vintage or Parkers Bordeaux.Come on esteemed frenchies, give some insight on this property. winoweenie

Well I checked my copy of Larousse Wine Encyclopedia...........

Larousse says that Ch. la Bessane vineyards are located in Entre-Deux-Mers which is a section of Bordeaux between the rivers Dordogne (to the north) and Garonne (to the south). The AOC is white only although the area produces reds under the Bordeaux and Bordeaux Superieur AOC's. The whites are made from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion and the reds from Merlot.

Larousse also notes that some chateau locate their buildings in the village of Margaux, but that their vinyards are "scatterd in parcels around the appellation". The Entre-Deux-Mers AOC is just about right accross the Garonne from the village of Margaux.

K & L Wines in California lists a 1998 for about $18.00. According to their website it is not in stock but is part of thier Bordeaux futures and is expected in the spring of 2001.

Wine Searcher (www.winesearcher.com) also notes a source in France and a source in the UK for both for less than $20.00 per bottle. There is a 1995 listed at a source in Oz for about $200.00, but that is a bit out of place (maybe?) considering the other listed prices!?!

That is all I could find about the wine.

Well that was not quite true........ After taking a bit more time I found:

http://www.margaux.org/gb/index.html

Go there and get some more information. After all, who said that Larousse Encyclopedia of Wine was all-inclusive?
