Nose and palate of cedar, tobacco and bovine urine. Served with another large T-bone for two with baked spuds and zucchini, onions and mushrooms sauteed in olive oil. The back label says it's 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, made on a 54-acre property just south of St Emilion. Not really my cup of tea, but she loved it, so I'll have to buy more. $10.99.

Vacu-vin'd half the bottle and placed in the fridge overnight, and the wine morphed into something more palatable. Gone is the bovine urine, and the cedar and tobacco have mellowed into a mild minty chocolate. It probably needed time to breathe last night, as well as warm at least 10 degrees from cellar temperature; I'll make a note to open the next bottle a couple of hours before dinner.
