I have no knowledge of wines with foods, could someone please advise me what wine would go well with roast chicken or roast turkey. Preferably moderately priced.Thank you so much for your help.

Hi JLou, and welcome to the Wine Board. A lot depends on how each is roasted, and there are hundreds of possibilities. If the chicken is slathered with butter, the result is one of the few dishes I would like a buttery chardonnay with. If it is basted with fruit juice, a riesling of appropriate sweetness (depending on sweetness of the juice) would work fine.

Turkey in most of its guises also works very well with riesling. If spiciness is involved try a gewurztraminer. All bets are off if you a making a Thanksgiving type meal with stuffing and other side dishes offering vastly contrasting flavors and aromas. I aways go with a red with backbone such a red zinfandel with these meals.
