- Innkeeper - 12-04-2004 2000 Chateau Tour d'Auron, Bordeaux Superieur ($10 Blue Hill Wine Shop). Alcohol: The proverbial 12.5%. Loads of cassis and chocolate on the nose and upfront. More gobs of ripe black fruit along with a healthy dose of dirt, and very smooth tannin across the palate. And, a very nice finish. Matched with broiled fillet steak in bacon rasher with EVOO and Morton rub. Accompanied by salad in raspberry/hazelnut vinaigrette. Just great. Too bad, we only had one. - wondersofwine - 12-06-2004 Sounds like a great meal, IK. - Tsuku - 12-25-2004 Innkeeper is right on. You are lucky to have found a 2000 bottle as I have been searching for weeks. It does have the cherry and chocolate on the nose and a great tannin feeling after the first taste which mellows out just like a Premier Cru. The 2001 is somewhat lighter but the only difference is that it probably won't last as long as the 2000 which I estimate at 10-15 years. The price is right and grab it if you can. It's a wonderful wine with my score of 91. It was served with tenderloin of pork annointed with a cranberry sauce, sauted plaintain, fresh green beans and a delightful mixed-greens salad topped with cranberry vinagrette. - winoweenie - 12-25-2004 Hi Tsuku and welcome to the board. You might try calling Mike at Sportsmans , 602 955 7730. He has been getting more 2000s in lately. WW [This message has been edited by winoweenie (edited 12-25-2004).] |
