What wines goes with grilled chicken

- Innkeeper - 01-19-2002

Hi S, and welcome to the Wine Board. Beaujolais, not Nouveau (which dies at the end of this month anyway), nor plain ole. But you can go with Beaujolais Village, the 2000 vintage is drinking very well right now, or with one of the Cru Beaujolais. These are too numerous to mention right now, but a 2000 Julienas would be perfect.

Max, depending on what you serve with the grilled chicken, and how you grill it (the dry rub or sauce you use on it), a Sauvignon Blanc can pair well. I'm thinking of one like Michel Lynch Bordeaux Blanc, about $8-$10. That's for grilling with olive oil and ground herbs. If you're using a tomato-based barbecue sauce, go with IK's recommendation of a Cru Beaujolais.
