2000 Guenoc, Chardonnay, California, $12, 16,961 cases. A veritable fruit bowl of aromas and flavors, with pineapple, melon and crisp green apples in the forefront. Minimal oak influence lets the fruit shine. Enjoyable now. 86/90.

1999 Handley, Chardonnay, Anderson Valley, California, $17, 1,783 cases. The nose is brimming with pear, yellow delicious apple and light vanilla notes. These aromas are echoed on the palate. Light to medium-bodied, with nice acidity and a delicate touch of oak. 88/90.
