1998 Palmer Vineyards, North Fork of Long Island, Estate Pinot Blanc. Picked this up last summer on a trip down there. Lovely citrus on the nose and upfront; subtle vanilla (i.e. oak) and melon with a nice shot of acid on the palate, and a soft, supple, and joyful finish. The vanilla thing caused us to have it with lightly seasoned grillpanned pork chops and spinach. All went well together. The wine was more reminiscent of Alsace than California because of the good acid and the mild shot of oak. Would definitely pick up more on our next trip. Very hard to find outside of New York.
