- TheEngineer - 05-07-2010 This is a solid bottle, great nose, good smooth texture, good acidity for the vintage and nicely put together. Good balance but not a knock your socks off bottle. Perhaps more advanced than excepted as teh cork was mostly soaked 90% up to the top. - wondersofwine - 05-07-2010 I've had some nice Verget white Burgundies in the past but haven't seen them around since Carolina Wine Company went out of business. - TheEngineer - 05-07-2010 when did they go out of business? [This message has been edited by TheEngineer (edited 05-07-2010).] - Kcwhippet - 05-07-2010 They closed down way back in January, 2009, but I think they actually filed for bankruptcy protection in March. Interestingly, there's a distributor here in MA called Carolina Wine, but there's no connection that I know of. - TheEngineer - 05-08-2010 Thanks KC! I was hoping Charles would be okay. I saw him a few months ago and he seemed to be doing well. - wondersofwine - 05-10-2010 Probably no connection. Carolina Wine Company, based in Raleigh, was owned by Chrish Peel and his wife. - TheEngineer - 12-30-2010 Pulled out what I thought would be a good bet and I was not disappointed. No change in notes and much appreciated by all. |
