I was told by a friend that a 1997 Beringer Cab. Sav. is a great bottle of wine. I'm looking for a great wine to go along with a meal I am having with my fiancee. We are going to be having a rack of ribs, twice-baked potatoes, and hearts of palm salad.

There's a guy around here called Foodie who hates the word assume, so we assume you are going to put BBQ sauce on your ribs. Therefore we assume that he will suggest Barbera D'Alba, which would be a good choice. However, we will recommend Dolcetto D'Alba. Both of these light to medium bodied wines from the Piedmont, Italy region of Alba, have a way of going with spicy things from strange places like Alabama.

Or if you put some heat in your sauce a super selection is a zinfandel ( RED , not Blanca). Lots of super stuff out of Calif at present. The 97 vintage is the stuff of legends. Ask your friendly Merchant.
