While on a recent business trip to Atlanta, I was taken to dinner at Pricci -- an upscale Italian place in Buckhead -- and had 2 wines that I cannot find in my area. One of these was a 1997 Caymus Vineyards Cabernet. Has anyone else heard of or had this wine? Opinions? Places to purchase on line or in the Tallahassee, Florida area? Thanks so much for the info.

Hi Sally and welcome to the board. Caymus is,IMHO, one of the 10 best producers in Calif. The Napa bottling sells for around $70 per bottle. Any up-scale wine shop should stock the wine. If you can`t find it ( which is unlikely ) it will be offered on all of the wine stores on the inter-net. Good luck winoweenie

Hi Sally--

The 1997 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon was released on June 1. I tried it when I was in Napa back in July. While I noticed it was in wine stores out there, I have yet to see a bottle of it in a store in NYC (which obviously, is usually up to date) either before or after my trip.

If you can find a 1996 still in Atlanta (I'm from Atlanta, and was looking for some a couple of months ago down there, and couldn't find any), you might want to try that as well. The 1996 is not nearly as tannic as the 1997, and will drink better at present. The 1997, in my opinion, could use a few years to soften it out.
