I was surfing around the net look at french wine sites and one said the grew both "True" cabernet and cabernet sauvignon. What exactly is "true" cabernet and what are the actual differences?

For what it's worth, my guess is that "true Cabernet" refers to Cabernet Franc, since Cab Franc is reputedly one of the parents -- along with Sauvignon Blanc -- of Cabernet Sauvignon.

It's a shame that Scoop broke the news to WW; I believe he would prefer not to have known.

It is kind of like telling people that all grapes (not just the French-American hybrids) are hybrids, since all are cross bred and cultivated. The vinifera purists refuse to accept the "correct" notion. Having said that, vinifera still produces the best wine grapes, even if some reds are offspring of some whites....
