I am making a cheese fondue and it calls for Neufchatel wine. I can not find this wine ANYWHERE!!! Can you give me another suggestion for a specific type and brand of wine to use??
Thanks!
Kristin

Hi Chandlerbing, and welcome to the Wine Board. A slightly off dry riesling will work fine. A German Kabinett or an American Riesling between 1% & 2% residual sugar (RS).

Isn't neufchatel a type of cheese?

- Blue - 03-22-2001

Yes and no. Actually it is a place...

In this case, yes, a cheese.
I would try to get a swiss white wine for the fondue. (I prefer a red wine to drink.)
Other ideas: From Savioe, France, an Apremont would work great, or a Picpoul de Pinet, from the Languedoc.

Found a Neuchatel at www.popswine.com under Other Imported Wines on their inventory.

Hmm, makes sense that they would make wine as well. Have never been offered one myself. Good research there IK!

Used to drink-em alla' time till I switched to GeWWurtz. WW

Yeah, I used to drink them too, but find they are over-priced today.

Have never made fondue without Neuchatel, but then again haven't made it in twenty years. Glad to see it's popular again, and where to get the wine.
