Took 18 mid-range cabs to Vegas and will make a mini-TN on each. Can definately say, IMHO, that the 97`s have one devil of a big pair of boots to don if it out-classes these beauties. Now to the pernt

Dehlinger Bordeaux Blend. An absolutely enchanting drink. All the brite berries, spices, and a modicum of oak are packaged perfectly in this wine. Tom, much to my regret, is stopping production and has grafted over all of the 3 acres of Merlot grapes to ( SOB) the Wente clone of Cardonnay.
Robert Craig "Affinity". A suave, sleek, very approachable wine that has everything you could desire in a bottle.

Caymus Napa. Still way away from peaking. The soft tannins surround the palate only after telling you this suckers` loaded for bear.

Liparita, Howell Mtn. A wine with years ahead of it. Gobs of ever`-thin that will make this a beauty.

Schweiger Spring Mtn. Aother big mountain wine that`ll take another 5 at least to get civilized.

Voila " Melange Napa". A beautifully crafted wine that has a deep core of fruit that'll take this beauty another 20.

Mt. Veeder Estate. A suprisingly well-developed wine from this contender for come-back winery of the year. Gone are the tannic monsters(actually started in 92) and they have harnessed the power of the Mt. Veeder grapes to make a beautifully balanced wine with finesse and grace.

Markham Napa. Out of the chute this has been my P/Q wine of the vintage. Can`t believe a wine can drink any better than this baby.In another 2 this will be my daily love.

Arrowwood Sonoma. Dick, as is evident from my previous posts has been one of my favorite winemakers since his Ch. St. Jean days, and the wines from his estate are always among the best Sonoma has to offer. This lil' gem 'haint no difernt. Give it another 5.

Anderson Conn Valley Reserve. A lovely structured wine that is what I expect from this fine property every vintage. Is drinking keen now but still needs anoter 2-3 to get-it-on.

Ch. St. Jean Cinq. This wine is lovely. all the components are together and dancin' like the Rockettes. Agin' folk, The 96 and 97 gonna' have to show-me

Beringer Alluvium. Always a wine so pure and un-flawed Drew'd have to spend days to pin enny-thin' on this baby. Always there, this also needs another 2-3.

So as not to make this post my doctorial thesis we also had the following;Ferrari-Carano Tresor, Larkmead Reserve,Hess Collection,St. Francis Reserve,Per Sempre Select Reserve, and the BV Tapestry. All were outstanding bottles and all need more time.

To conclude this, this group of wines re-inforce what I've thot all along, that the 94's as a group, represent the greatest array of fine wines ever produced in my drinking experience. IMHO, they even surpass the 82 Bordeauxs' at this stage. Although I didn't taste what would constitute Califs' 1st growths at this time, but this group which I'd rank as 5th to 2nd growths are certainly able to take the standard. Hope all of you have a cellar full of these babies. Adios!

I don't have many '94s left and the ones I do have would be more like 10th growths , but we're flying to Florida next Friday for 10 glorious golfin', drinkin', and cigar smokin' days and of the 8 bottles I sent ahead, two are the '94 Mazzocco Cab and the '94 Gallo Barrelli Creek Cab. I'll report TN's when we return.
