What would go with a white meat chicken stew with carrots, mushrooms, leeks, brown and wild rice, thyme, rosemary and some cream of mushroom soup in the sauce? Chardonnay? Sauvignon Blanc?

- Thomas - 11-30-2004

I think so.

Great opportunity to get rid of that oak bomb that someone gave you.

I have a bottle of Alice White Chardonnay that somebody gave me. Anybody ever drink that?

- hotwine - 11-30-2004

I don't trust Chardonnay with anything; the styles are so diverse, it's hard to know what you're getting. I'd go with a Sauvignon Blanc.

The cream of mushroom soup will hide anything Gil; go with the Alice White Georgie.

It'll be a thin sauce...3 cans of fat free chicken broth to one can of mushroom soup.

- hotwine - 11-30-2004

That's thin, alright. I stand by the SB. Chards are just too danged iffy for me.

I think Alice White is an inexpensive Chard from Australia. May not be too oaky although I haven't tried it.
