I'm doing a church fundraiser for a priest fund which will combine wine tasting with my birthday bash in mid-October. I want to make a German (Bavarian) dish with soft camembert blended with onion (sometimes thin-sliced radishes as well), butter (or cream cheese or sour cream depending on the recipe), salt, pepper and paprika (cumin optional, parsley optional) and pretzels standing up vertically from the cheese spread. One wine site recommends Sauternes with Camembert or Brie but I would like to use something less expensive. Other suggestions?

I also plan to have small squares of moussaka made with ground lamb. Would a medium-bodied Shiraz be okay with this dish?

With the Camembert I would go with somthing different like a Sparkling Vouvray.

With moussaka I love Greek Wine. Even if you can't find anything more exciting that a Boutari Naoussa, that would be fine.

I'm with IK, although I was going to suggest Prosecco for the sparkler.
