Can anyone tell me what is the best sweet red wine I can buy?????

- Innkeeper - 11-20-2000

Banyuls from the South of France.

There are many more of course, it all depends on ones' tastes and preferences. How about Recioto della Valpolicella, Elysium Black Muscat, Rasteau, Marsala, German Rheingau (Assmannshausen, no kidding that's the name of the village)Beerenauslese from Pinot Noir, and those are only the ones I can think of right now. I always get a little queasy if I see wines defined in terms like "the best".

Lerkhena, welcome to the board. IMHO, the most consistant red sweet wines are Ports. Vintage, tawny, 20-yar olds etc. winoweenie

Paolo Bea Sagrantino Passito, without equivocation or hesitation.
