Went looking for Shotfire Ridge meritage at our closest Total Wine. They were out, but pouring this California meritage, which my wife and I both liked. Picked up a bottle, brought it home to cool slightly then poured with dinner.

We both really enjoyed this wine- very smooth, sily and supply. Notes of plum and cedar, with a faint licorice finish. The longer I held it in my mouth, the more acid I could pick up, but I didn't feel the tannins until late into the second glass. Not typical of the recent Cab style in California where you've got ultra-ripe jam in a glass. Possibly the style of Hayman, the Australian.

45% CS, 30% Merlot, 5% CF, 9% Malbec and 11% Petit Verdot

The price? $14.99! A meritage in this range that is drinkable now- wasn't sure we'd ever find one. We plan to pick up some more very soon.

Definitely a thumbs up from us, and worthy of being in the Best Buys forum.

Sounds good, I'll look for it next time I am at Total Wine.
