you definitely want to wait at least one week. i popped one too early (four days after arrival) and it was a tannic mess the first coupla hours. live and learn.

Hate to say " I tolt youse sooose" WW

We tried our first of this one last night. We enjoyed it well enough, finding lovely, forward black fruits with spices and chocolate notes, but I'm not sure it's as great a PQR at the $20.99 price point it sells at here in my market. Would rather be paying the $12-16 that the rest of you are getting it at

That having been said, I'll buy it again.

On a somewhat related note, I've got to work on getting a more experienced Cab palate. We so rarely drink them, that it's somewhat difficult for me to make correct judgements about them. I've never had a $50+ Cab, nor have I ever had a sub $10 one. I think I'm better with Pinot Noir, probably because I have them so much more often and have tasted more extensively across quality and price points (which, of course, don't always gibe).

Noticed a lack of posts on the cab thread from youse Dan. Now I know the "rest ub de story". Think you'll have fun exploring the wide world of cabernet. Far more consistant than them Pinot based drinks. WW

dananne,
Buy from the same site as TheEngineer and avoid the high cost. Sometimes the answers are right in front of us...

- TheEngineer - 05-15-2005

It might be a bit too late on that site..I think I got one of the last cases...do check but I was gonna order a second case and it wasn't listed anymore....

- Glass_A_Day - 05-16-2005

Well, in that case I have another site that has some and will ship. Let me know if you need it.

- dananne - 05-16-2005

Shipping to GA is the problem, as our laws are, shall we say, archaic. We can ship wines from a winery, but we have to purchase on site, and there are limits. Some folks who do some paperwork with the state and who pay sales tax here can ship, but I've found it to be so hit-or-miss (mostly miss), that I had frankly stopped trying.

Perhaps todays (narrow) Supreme Court ruling will loosen things up, but I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'll check on it, and thanks for the contacts

MA is just as bad. Trust me, they will ship. This advice is on the qt. They ship to all 48. Just order and enjoy, but don't tell everyone.

- TheEngineer - 05-23-2005

hehehehehehehe...took a bottle of this with me on my run across the country this week....never made it past the first day...only one more bottle left to share with a friend in SF......maybe...

NICE.....This thing is pretty dense in flavors. Opened up for about 4 hours before consuming (went out for dinner and now I was not going to share......not tonight..). Loads of fruit up front but not overpowering as the wood backs it up nicely. Like newsguy said, earth and Chocolate to somewhere between the blackfruit and the wood. Nice tannins, not superfine, but definitely not gritty. Good long finish and well balanced.

Thanks again for the intro!

They are back in stock at thewinebuyer.com

- Georgie - 06-04-2005

Tried my first bottle last night with some London broil. mmm-mmm-good

- jmcginley1 - 11-28-2005

I popped open my second to last bottle this evening.

Man, I forgot how good this is. I've been drinking a decent amount of $30+ cali cabs recently, and this one is in the running with all of them.

It's a shame that all of the local sources of this dried up months ago. We can only hope the '04 drinks half as well.

- TheEngineer - 11-28-2005

I brought one with me to NYNY tonight and had that in my hotel. Yes I agree with your statement. Even with a bit of flying, this thing was just fine.

Anyone take up their offer on the $45 Syrah's? I've just had a few delivered but had not popped any.

Looks like they have two of them out. Knights Valley and Napa. Haven't seen either locally but will buy if I come across either.

- Kcwhippet - 11-28-2005

Gott is distributed in MA. Eng and GAD - do you want me to see if there's still any of the 815 available? If there is, it would sure save on shipping. BTW, Gott will ship to MA, but they charge something like $80 per case.

- tw - 11-28-2005

Theres a boat load of the stuff here in Wisconsin. If anyone really wanted some I'd be willing to ship some out.

Chris

- Glass_A_Day - 11-28-2005

I have a supply of the 815. I don't suppose you have either of the Syrah bottles KC?

- TheEngineer - 11-28-2005

Same here on the 815, still a couple of cases to go. Many thanks for thinking about us though kc!

I did get a few bottles of the Syrahs shipped to me direct from Gott. The bottles were $45 each and the shipping was expensive but did come nicely packed. Letting them settle down for a while.
