This is not what I expected. It was a good, easy drinking Cabernet but not as dense or concentrated as I was hoping. And instead of the darker berry flavors I associate with Spring Mountain, and mountain Cab in general, it had a plummy vanilla flavor profile more reminiscent of valley floor Cab.

Had this with the '91 Pagor and braised lamb shanks with rosemary potatos. I picked out the Pagor because I thought the lamb would want something more delicate than Cab or Zin, but the Barnett, despite its other shortcomings, was a pretty good match for the lamb.

On to the '97 Karl Lawrence.
